JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School graduate or G.E.D.
  • Must be able to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Must have an Associates Degree or 60 college credits or successfully passed the State/Local test.
  • Must be able to maintain accurate clerical records and reports, to monitor students, speak and write effectively, establish and maintain effective relationships, work with and secure the cooperation of students.
  • Previous experience working with youth preferred, but not required. JOB DESCRIPTION: EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Including, but not limited to the following) 1. Must be knowledgeable of the basic course content for students; and, educational goals and objectives for each assigned student. 2. Assist in planning the day's activity. 3. Assist in identifying area of needs related to the program. 4. Assist in the development, planning and implementation of the program. 5. Must be able to understand and maintain students' and parents' rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students in inappropriate places or with anyone not in direct contact with such individual students. 6. Must be able to perform general clerical skills. 7. Job location will determine specialized responsibilities. Site-specific responsibilities will be related to actual location of work duties. 8. Other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 1. Must be physically able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing a minimum of 10 to 20 pounds, frequently. 2. Must be physically able to perform duties involving walking, sitting, lifting, squatting, etc. as necessary for student learning and safety. 3. Must be physically able to perceive the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, and the manual dexterity to operate equipment necessary to fulfill the duties of this position. 4. Must be physically able to lift and assist students as necessary. The Paraprofessional will interact cooperatively with all other staff positions. All elements of good human relations will be practiced.
