Job Description Job Description Description: SUMMARY We have two
full-time Humanities positions open in middle school; one for 6th
grade and one for 8th grade. The ideal candidates will delight in
being part of a team that is passionate, creative, and supportive
of one another; who have a love for the whole child and Christian
discipleship, scholarly expertise in the humanities, teaching
experience in a classical environment, and will participate in
ongoing professional training and experiences. One section of
Humanities constitutes two consecutive class periods. BENEFITS -

discount ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Teaches a full-time load of middle
school students in the humanities (history, English grammar,
literature, poetry, writing, philosophy, religion, politics,
culture, geography, art, and music). Essentially, the study and
teaching of what it means to be human through a Christian
worldview. - Teaches rhetorical skills, helping students to form
and defend positions through their writing, speaking,
presentations, and class discussions. - Facilitates the student’s
exploration of themes like power and authority, love, justice and
injustice, and the proper, virtuous Christian response. - Attends
and contributes to parent-teacher meetings necessary to the
school's functions. Meetings include weekly devotions and staff
meetings, parent/student meetings (as needed), department meetings
(twice monthly), middle school meetings (weekly), and various other
planning and debrief meetings as needed (e.g., prior to and after
class trips, etc.). - Helps plan and implement grade-level
activities and learning expeditions. - Participates in all middle
school activities and meetings, including after-school and evening
activities. Participates in, attends, and supports the planning and
execution of grade-level trips and activities beyond the classroom.
- Organizes, plans, supervises, and leads a small group (about 15
middle schoolers) for regular discussions and activities during
chapel time, 20-minute lunch supervision, and the annual middle
school field day. OTHER - Grammar, writing, and rhetoric activities
must be used effectively within all content areas. - 6th grade
explores the Truth Seeker and the Courageous Christian in the
Middle Ages through the Age of Exploration. - 8th grade considers
the roles of the Courageous Christian, Truth Seeker, and Justice
Keeper, and the responsibilities of Power and Authority through the
eyes of late 18th-century Constitutional Liberty, Freedom, and
Justice for all, as well as the consequences when "for all" doesn't
include ALL European emphasis. There is an emphasis on European and
Early American history, Post-Revolutionary America through the
Civil Rights Era, and African colonialism. Requirements: REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited
college or university. - Frequent and prolonged walking, standing,
and sitting. May be required to lift up to 25lbs. - Employment is
contingent upon the successful completion and passing of a
comprehensive background check, including criminal history,
education, and employment verification DESIRED SKILLS - Clear
understanding of the developmental needs (age and stage) of middle
